After traveling 3 hours North of Izegem, Belgium the USA Jr. Track National Team arrived in Apeldoorn, Holland. There is a newly built velodrome and athletic center in Apeldoorn, complete with showers, a high-class restaurant, and VIP viewing boxes. This was my first international track experience and I was very anxious to see how it would turn out. As we walked into the velodrome I realized the other teams there are the Nederlands, Great Britain, Belgium, and Czech. They were all tricked out in matching track suits, mechanics that would change their gears for them, custom bike stands, soigneurs, and compressors. They were all pretty much a professional team. Racing was incredibly faster than what I am used to, very aggressive as well. On Saturday, I took part in the Team pursuit with Kaitie Antonneau and Kendall Ryan, my first ever Derny heat, and points race. On Sunday, I raced the individual pursuit, Derny final (which I won), elimination, and the womens madison with Kendall Ryan. It was a great experience and I learned a ton more about track racing.
